Like hundreds of other couples last year, Oliver Proudlock and his long-term girlfriend Emma Louise Connolly had to repeatedly postpone their wedding thanks to the ongoing pandemic, but recently announced they tied the knot in secret in December.

The Made in Chelsea star and his bride-to-be shared in the frustration of all those who had sent wedding invites, bought their outfits and planned every detail of their big day, only to have it cancelled. The celebrity couple didn’t postpone just once, but three times, with cancellation number four very nearly a reality as well.

The couple were all set to have 15 guests in their restricted ceremony – a stark reduction from their original 200-long guest list – when Boris Johnson announced that the country was going into another lockdown in a matter of days.

Realising that just getting married was most important to them, they frantically called around to see if they could bring their date forward. Their determination paid off, and they were married the next day in St Albans Church in Fulham.

The bride wore a bespoke Pronovias Atelier lace gown, the guests wore masks and stayed in bubbles and the groom wore a navy suit. The small wedding party dined on parsnip soup, fillet of beef, and apple and blackberry crumble.

While it may not have been their original wedding – with the groom’s mother watching online from America, the rings inscribed with the wrong date and the honeymoon spent in isolation with the bride’s parents – the couple shared their joy to have finally tied the knot on social media.
