With the start of summer, the wedding season 2019 is well and truly underway. Here are some of the trends you can expect to see at the ceremonies you attend this year.

1. Bold florals

Flowery patterns are hardly groundbreaking when it comes to wedding gowns, but the use of strong colours and shapes such as 3D appliqué takes bridal florals to an entirely new, much bolder level.

2. Bright tropical tones

As florals get brighter and bigger, things get even better with a touch of the tropics adding a twist to contemporary wedding dress designs. This trend is characterised by larger blooms, lush green leaves and even the occasional exotic bird.

3. Something blue

Pale pink and champagne-coloured wedding dresses have already appeared on the wedding dress scene, and now brides can choose to wear their wedding gown as their something blue. Think subtle baby or powder blue tones rather than royal or electric blue.

4. Lovely lace

The trend for wedding gowns adorned with lace really gained pace when the Duchess of Cambridge chose a dress with lashings of the delicate stuff. This trend shows no signs of stopping anytime soon, with everything from bridal clothing to wedding invitation cards featuring intricate lacy designs.

5. Geometric lace

Classic lace looks set to stay in style for some time, and building on this theme is the new trend for geometric patterns. A lot of shape and pattern repetition is big news in the world of weddings, not only for dresses but for wedding stationery and venue decor too.
