Countdown maths whizz Rachel Riley and Strictly professional Pasha Kovalev have returned to the UK after their surprise elopement at the end of June.

The pair, who met when Rachel took part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2013, headed for glittering Las Vegas in scorching Nevada to tie the knot on June 28.

Rachel previously wed her Oxford sweetheart in 2012, but that marriage broke down some time after Rachel was matched with Pasha in TV’s hottest dance contest.

A month before the wedding, Rachel shared the couple’s happy news on Countdown by placing the anagram ‘RTINYMATE’ on the show’s letters board. The conundrum was solved as ‘MATERNITY’, which the star stood proudly next to as she cradled her emerging baby bump.

The secret wedding was something of a surprise for most, and defied convention in more ways than one. The bride eschewed a traditional wedding gown in favour of a patterned mini dress, worn with nude stilettos as she bore a bouquet of roses. The groom opted for a smart casual look, sporting a dark blazer over neutral trousers with a subtly patterned shirt and no tie.

Rachel took to Instagram to announce the nuptials, posting a picture of herself and her new husband standing in front of a colourful merry-go-round made from flowers, showing once more that the floral theme for wedding stationery, decor, cakes and clothing is as strong as ever.

The couple will now return to their London home as they await the arrival of their baby, due this December.
