Princess Eugenie has posted a two-in-one comparison shot on Instagram depicting her wedding day look beside a snap from her childhood.

Wedding invites were already on their way this time last year for Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, who married on October 12, 2018. It’s clear that big day is still very much at the forefront of the princess’s mind.

Captioned “Same same but different” the double shot features two images. The first depicts Eugenie as a child clad in a white dress with long sleeves; the miniature princess is grinning happily and clutching a white flowered bouquet. The adjacent image is from last years’ royal nuptials and features Eugenie in her wedding gown. The garment was designed by De Vos and Pilotto and has recently been on public display in Windsor, where the wedding took place. There is a bouquet in this photo too that bears a strong resemblance to the former.

The difference present in the second photo was notably the flowered veil from her childhood replaced by the Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara.

Eugenie chose not to wear a veil for her wedding for the same reason she opted for a low-back design to her gown, to display a childhood scar. The Princess spoke candidly to People, saying:

“For me, it’s a way of communicating with people who are going through either similar situations with scoliosis or having a scar of their own that they are trying to deal with.”

Royal well-wishers were quick to comment favourably on the Princess’s post.
